About us
My name is Tana Sheets. I am the Director at Kids First Child Care Ministry in Decatur, Indiana.

I have lived in Adams County for 30 years and been in the child care field for 37 years. My husband, Jeff, is Decatur’s Fire Chief. He and I have two grown sons who have families of their own.

Our oldest son, Justin, is married to Krista. Their son, Jasper, is two years old. Our youngest son, James, is married to Katilyn. They have two children: Deacon, age five, and Ember, age three.

I enjoy being around my grandchildren the most. Â I loved being involved with all of the different sports my sons were in during their elementary and high school years. When that era came to an end, I needed to find something to fill my time. I took care of my parents, as their health was failing them. As God would have it, when my parents passed, my grandchildren arrived. Â

I have been very involved, in not only the care of my grandchildren, but also their development. Our oldest grandson, Deacon, has the deletion of Chromosome 22 and Cerebral palsy. Â

Jeff and I enjoy our little getaways when we can, but our dedication to our profession always comes first. I have said it many times - child care is not a job; it’s a life’s calling. Â

I love to meet the children in my care every morning and see what new task or development occurs for them as the day goes on. God gave us children to remind all of us that life is simple if you take the time to listen, learn and enjoy everything He has given us. I have found that statement to be true. Watching and learning from the innocence of a child is the perfect way to achieve that.

To any new parents that are entrusting me with the care of their child is, I say God has given you the MOST PRECIOUS gift in the world -Â your child; it is like a precious piece of glass and you now are allowing me to care for this gift. Â
Â
I will do my best to put my positive fingerprints all over this gift. Â I will also do my very best to not allow anyone to chip or crack, with negativity, your precious gift while in my care. Â God has entrusted you and you now are entrusting me. For that, I am HONORED! Â Â
